Our project plan (below) was the basis of information we included in our application to the Big Lottery for funding to refurbish the school. The application was sent to the Big Lottery on 26th October. If you would like to see a copy of the full project plan one is available to read in the school. An extract from the project plan is printed below this describes the two parts of the project, refurbishment of the school and delivery of benefits to the community.

What is the project?

The project has two elements

The key parts of the refurbishment are:

Part Two - The delivery of benefits to the community

The refurbished facility will be a welcoming, comfortable and flexible community centre, with disabled facilities that can be used throughout the year by all ages; this will enable significant benefits to be delivered to the community. Delivery of the 6 outcomes defined in the ‘Aims’ will ensure these benefits are achieved.
Local residents will benefit from having more activities in the village including:
More social events and common interest groups held within the village
Opportunities to attend local training, educational and wellbeing classes
More local services and activities for older people
More activities available for younger people and families
A facility which they can hire for private functions throughout the year

The whole community will benefit from having

A sustainable village community centre that will be the heart and hub of village life
A location to be the focal point to deal with any village emergencies
A location for village meetings
A building in good state of repair that has a long term future as a the space for village activities and as a well loved feature in the landscape
An energy efficient building that provides an example to the community
Local business activities and community members will benefit from having
A location to display and sell products, crafts and services
Local community groups, such as the Community Council and the village social committee will benefit from having:
